Submit your videos to FOKUS 2014 video art festival!

FOKUS 2014 video art festival invites both new talents and established artists to send in their videos to the next edition of the festival which takes place in Copenhagen from February 6 - March 2, 2014.

All participants must fill out the online entry form

Videos can be uploaded to our special FOKUS server OR submitted by mail to the address below.

Each participant can submit a maximum of two videos. 

Only videos produced in 2012 or 2013 may be submitted.

Videos must not exceed a duration of 15 minutes.

Videos previously submitted to FOKUS video art festival will not be accepted.

We only accept single screen works that can be presented in landscape mode (please also see info on presentation at the festival below under "terms").

We do not accept preview versions – only finished videos ready for presentation at the festival may be submitted. It is not possible to submit new versions of a video after the deadline.

We accept videos in the following formats: DVD, Blueray, MPEG4, AVI and MOV. Videos must be submitted in separate video files.

If the spoken language in the video is not Danish or English, the video must have subtitles in Danish or English.

Upload limit is 2gb. Videos sent by mail can be larger.

Please mark the envelope "FOKUS OPEN CALL" and indicate clearly your name and address (which must correspond to the name on the completed online entry form).

Be aware that if you are sending in your video by mail you still have to fill out one online entry form per video.

Upon completion of the online entry form you will receive an email with a link to the FOKUS server where you can upload your video.

Videoes must be submitted no later than December 16th 2013 at 12 p.m. CET.



The FOKUS open call jury will nominate 10 videos for the final prize which shall be awarded to three winning videos. Response from the jury may be expected by the end of January 2014.

If your video should be among the 10 nominees, we kindly ask you to send us a preview of your video (of max. 1 minute duration) by February 1st 2014. The preview will  be made available on FOKUS and Nikolaj Kunsthal's digital platforms (web, Facebook, video channel) prior to the festival opening.

By completing and sending the online entry form, you accept the conditions below. 

1. FOKUS video art festival 2014 is granted permission to show all videos submitted in this open call at Nikolaj Kunsthal and related venues.

2. All entries will be shown in a "jukebox" programme (large flatscreen monitors and an Apple TV platform). In addtiion, the 10 nominated vidoes may be presented separately in a looped, large-format projected video programme. All videos will be shown in a minimum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

3. All videoes submitted will be judged by a jury established by FOKUS. The jury will select 10 works as open call nominees to be announced before the opening of the festival. These 10 videoes will be screened in full length on the festival's opening night. Of these 10 works the jury will appoint three as the winners of the competition.

4. As a participant in FOKUS 2014 open call you are responsible for clearing any necessary copyrights or other rights ahead of submitting your video. In the event of your video containing material to which a third party has the copyright, you are reponsible for obtaining permission to use the material from the party in question.

5. FOKUS 2014 and Nikolaj Kunsthal cannot be held responsible for the contents of works submitted to the open call.

6. As a participant in FOKUS 2014 open call you grant Nikolaj Kunsthal rights indefinitely to use submitted still photos (or produce such) from the video(s) you submit without paying out a fee. The stills may be used on FOKUS' and Nikolaj Kunsthal’s web pages and as a part of its overall marketing, information and documentation purposes on digital platforms.

7. FOKUS 2014 disclaims any responsibility for material that is lost in the mail or which in other ways may disappear prior to receipt here. FOKUS 2014 reserves the right to refuse material arriving after the deadline.

8. Participants in FOKUS 2014 can have their submitted material returned at the end of the festival provided a self-addressed and stamped envelope is provided. For copyright reasons, all non-returned material will be destroyed af the end of the festival.

9. Participation in the open call of FOKUS 2014 is free. FOKUS 2014 cannot pay open call participants for their submissions.

10. FOKUS 2014 reserves the right to disqualify material that does not conform with the terms of the open call listed here.
