26. October 2017 to 9. November 2017

Now FOKUS sends out an open call for the 2018 edition of the festival, encouraging everyone – irrespective of nationality and experience – to submit works. You can submit up to two works, using the festival’s online platform.
You can submit up till 2 videos using the FOKUS online platform. Deadline for submission is November 9th at 12 o’clock Danish time.
Just like last year, the best works will be selected by a jury and then made available to a Copenhagen audience at various places. For the 2017 programme more than 10,000 people checked out the festival works that could be experienced at locations such as the department store Illum, the Copenhagen Main Public Library and the cinemas Grand, Gloria and Vester Vov Vov. Once again in 2018, FOKUS is going to lift video art out of the traditional settings in which art is presented to meet its audience at carefully selected city spots – indoors and outdoors – and on your mobile phone or tablet. Shortlisted videos will compete for the FOKUS First Prize of €1000 and two Runners-Up Prizes of €500 each.
FOKUS video art festival is an annually recurring event for international video art, arranged by Nikolaj Kunsthal.
”FOKUS is the only video art festival in Denmark and therefore helps highlighting an element of visual art that is undergoing a spectacular development. Both well-known names and new talents experiment with the video medium, employing new ways of story-telling and technological platforms. FOKUS endeavours to assist this development while at the same time making video art visible to a larger audience”, says Andreas Brøgger, Head of Nikolaj Kunsthal.
