FOKUS 2015: Marika Seidler "Flokkene"

2015, CA. 70 MIN. 64 MASKS

Flokkene (“The Flocks”) is a newly produced video work for FOKUS video art festival and a further development of Marika Seidler’s collaboration over some years with Nikolaj Kunsthal, the Copenhagen Zoo and a number of Copenhagen schools. For this work, Seidler has developed three hybrid animal species: elefantsommerfugle (elephant + butterfly), bjulve (bear + wolf) and flamingogiraffer (fla- mingo + giraffe).

Through performances with the participating pupils, the relations and behavioural patterns of herd animals have been examined.
The work is shown as a 3-track video installation. In addition to
the film, the masks that have been used are exhibited. To tie in with this presentation, there is a per- formance programme involving the participating school classes.
