New Head of Nikolaj Kunsthal

Andreas Brøgger is the new head of Nikolaj Kunsthal and succeeds the previous head for more than 20 years, Elisabeth Delin Hansen. Andreas Brøgger has been the acting head of the art centre since 2015 and has been a curator there for five years.

44-year-old Andreas Brøgger holds an MA in Modern Culture from the University of Copenhagen where he received the Gold Medal for his dissertation on visual communication and the ways in which art expresses itself. Andreas Brøgger has an extensive knowledge of the world of art through his work as a critic, curator, lecturer, editor, writer, and communicator. He has, among other positions, formerly been employed as a curator at Sorø Kunstmuseum and worked as an art critic at the daily newspaper Information. He brings with him a comprehensive both Danish and international network acquired through several collaboration projects and after having resided abroad.

Later this year, Andreas Brøgger will complete his Master’s in leadership (MPG) at CBS, Copenhagen Business School. He lives in Frederiksberg with his spouse and their two children.

Nikolaj Kunsthal should be an art centre with a certain edge and a place that can create debate and present new ways of expressions, enabling us to see our time and culture in new ways. This is a project that Andreas Brøgger has excellent preconditions to fulfil due to his versatile background”, says Lene Floris, director of the City of Copenhagen unit Historie & Kunst (“History & Art”).

Says Andreas Brøgger: “Nikolaj Kunsthal is an exhibition site that should also in future be capable of surprising, challenging and inspiring our guests. We want to make our contribution to help experiencing and understanding contemporary art and the current cultural development. Nikolaj Kunsthal is located in the heart of the city in a unique building with a long and interesting history that will now be further strengthened due to the new co-operation within the unit Historie & Kunst.”
