WANT TO VOLUNTEER AT THE FOKUS 2014 VIDEO ART FESTIVAL?

In connection with the film and video installation Skammekrogen (“The Doghouse”), which will have its world premiere at the FOKUS 2014 video art festival, we are looking for volunteers to oversee the day-to-day running of the work. It involves introducing the interactive work to visitors, guiding them in the use of it and helping in creating the total experience which is Skammekrogen. This is where we need your help.

About Skammekrogen

Skammekrogen is a hybrid between film art and role playing. And new reality. In groups of five, guests are placed around a table which has been set but left, and on which a pair of new reality glasses has been laid out on each plate. Once you put on these glasses, you will experience the film from one specific character’s perspective and sound universe. The difference from ordinary films lies in the way that you will be able to look around as if you were inside the character in question. The point is that everybody sitting around the table has his or her own unique visual angle and thus each their experience of the same dinner, just like in real life where everybody has their subjective perspectives.

The project will begin a few days before the premiere of Skammekrogen on February 7, at which point you will be introduced to the team behind the work as well as to how it functions. Work will take place on Thursdays and Saturdays from 12 noon to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the period from February 7 to March 2.

This course will give you an insight into the handling of a ground-breaking new film and a new work of art, give you the opportunity to get ”behind the scenes” of the film as well as Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Centre, and become a part of the team behind the FOKUS 2014 video art festival. Apart from the introductory course, you must be able to set aside some 30 hours for the project.

About FOKUS 2014

FOKUS 2014 is the fourth consecutive festival for video art at Nikolaj Kunsthal. FOKUS has by now established itself as a significant platform for video art with a comprehensive programme of Danish and international works. The 2014 edition will take place from February 6 to March 2 2014 at Nikolaj Kunsthal and related venues. During the festival period, Nikolaj Kunsthal is transformed into a Mecca for video art. You can experience premieres of new works by noted Danish and international artists as well as a large selection of curated video programmes, artist talks and events. The work is unpaid; but at the end of the project you can receive a recommendation. There are no requirements to special skills.

In order to coordinate this project, we need a binding assurance from you as soon as possible. You do so by sending an email to Anne Julie at Nikolaj Kunsthal. If you have any questions you can also contact Anne Julie (on weekdays between 9 and 12 a.m.), m: aja@nikolajkunsthal.dk, t: 3318 1792.

We look forward to hearing from you!
