Hanne Nielsen & Birgit Johnsen

28. March 2014 to 25. May 2014

The two Danish video artists Hanne Hielsen and Birgit Johnsen have with the project ’Drifting’ created an entirely new film installation with more than one projection.

’Drifting’ has a real incident as its point of departure; the story of a indistinguishable man who was drifting around the sea of Skagerak on a raft. The project examines questions about identity, nationality and affiliation. At the same time the project also adresses more existentialistic and socio political issues. In ’Drifting’ elements of fiction is mixed with documentary and the validity of the narration is being questioned.

Hanne Nielsen and Birgit Johnsen have worked together for 20 years and are among the pioneers of Danish video installation.

The exhibition ’Drifting’ is curated and produced by Fotografisk Center and is shown in collaboration with Nikolaj Kunsthal.
